I've been following Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution principles for several years now and have lost and kept off over 25 pounds, improved my health, and feel amazing. This book was recommended to me by my sister's friend who had Melanoma skin cancer and got rid off the cancer by following this book.Before we followed the Gundry's diet, my husband was a 200 lbs man with Crohn's disease, he was taught to eat "clean" in his life and followed Pritikin diet which emphases no salt, no sugar, no oil, plant based diet with lots of WHOLE GRAIN. He struggled all his life to lose weight.At his 40's, he went for GI doctor because of his constant burping and diarrhea (4-5 times a day, he was so used to it that he thought it was normal). He had colonoscopy and found blockage between small intestine and colon, doctor told my husband to go back to him every year to check.My husband went for second opinion at Mayo clinic, Rochester, MN. At the end, he found he had blockage and fistulas caused by Crohn's disease and had his surgery. He was temporarily cured after surgery. We went back to Mayo Clinic to check up after a year of surgery. They told my husband that he had mild inflammation. We looked it up, Crohn's recurrent rate is 90% in 5 years.Few months later, my sister insisted that I had to read the book. After I read the book, I put my husband on Gundry's diet for half year before the next check up.This time we went to Cleveland Clinic for follow up. My husband went for colonoscopy, CT scan and blood test. Doctor told us that my husband had NO sign of Crohn's disease and he doesn't need to take any medication. We are so happy, yes, still very happy about the result.Beside we had good news about Crohn's disease, my husband weight dropped under 180 lbs. His constant neck and leg pain are gone and his energy level increased.We are very pleased with this book.Our purpose to follow the diet is to reduce inflammation, so we eat WHITE rice and WHITE bread sometime (NO WHOLE GRAIN!!!) to make our life easier. But white rice and bread aren't good for weight loss and diabetic purpose.

This book came highly recommended by my naturopath as I have tried so many different ways of eating over this past year. I’ve done SCD, Parasite Cleanse, Liver Cleanse and a Candida Diet. All helped me a little bit, but didn’t correct any of my issues. Since January I’ve had stomach cramps, digestive issues, face breakouts, low energy, brain fog and the list goes on. As a 33 year old stay at home Mom who has eaten a paleo diet for almost 4 years I didn’t understand why my health was failing me when I ate so healthy and slept 8-9 hours a night. If we use “eating well” to mean “eating to promote maximum health and longevity,” the best book I’ve ever read on eating well is THE PLANT PARADOX by Steven R. Gundry, M.D. He not only has the clinical experience, but he has the credentials, too. Many other books and programs also promote eating nutritious food. What separates this one is its focus on anti-nutrients such as lectins. Especially if you have been struggling with any health or weight issues, I encourage you to read it and at least seriously consider his recommendations. He may even improve your understanding of yourself as a physical body!

This book is a life saver I lost 26lbs now I’m 199 my girlfriend lost 40 lbs now she’s 140 just by eating the right things I lost my other book and I just got two more this is the best thing can’t wait to go to work now have a new pen and my glasses ready the book I lost had all the interesting pages marked I have to start over again but it ok

This way of eating was recommended to a family member by his blood pressure doctor. He and his wife had good results with, probably, 80% - 90% compliance with the principles of the approach, which are to eliminate lectin from one's diet. My wife and I both read/listened to the book and decided to give it a try. In the spirit of full disclosure, we had been eating gluten-free for a year prior to upgrading to the Plant Paradox approach, which is kind of "gluten-free on steroids." At first glance, the PP approach appears to be really difficult to comply with. And, yes, dining at restaurants is a challenge. But, one result of taking the challenge is that our dining out budget line has been cut by about 2/3rds, not an insignificant saving. Now, how about the food? Yes, a lot of our favorites are on the "Just Say No" list -- nightshades, certain oils, cow cheese that is not from Italy/So. France or Switzerland, for example. But, the recipes are great and not too challenging in the prep department. We discovered Quorn products (non-meat products that we like better than chicken). The diet requires focus and attention, but, otherwise, is not difficult. Dr Gundry offers supplements, one of which provides a defense against incidental lectins. For example, we will be traveling internationally and need to have our "lectin shields up." Our goal was improved health -- Dr. Gundry's phrase is "Die young at an old age." I had lost about 20 pounds during the year of eating gluten-free. During the 10 weeks we have eaten "Gundry style," I have lost another 10 pounds. I wake up more easily and do not often feel the need for a mid-afternoon nap. And, surprisingly, we seldom feel hungry. To the contrary, we often comment about not being hungry, even though it has been several hours since the last fairly small meal. We soon will see what our blood work says about how we're eating. So, my onclusion is that this approach to eating is very different and requires focus, but the food options are great, as are the results.
